
Chief Medical Officer, (CMO) of the NEW Health reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Board of Directors on issues relating to the provision of health care and its impact on the community. The CMO, as part of the health center leadership team, is responsible for the overall clinical management of the NEW Health practice. The position entails a combination of direct patient care, teaching, and administrative responsibilities. The CMO monitors clinical performance to ensure medical services and operations are following all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies.
As a member of the Executive Management Team, the Chief Medical Officer is responsible for implementing, reviewing, and developing clinical protocols, performance objectives, productivity benchmarks, compliance measures, provider workflow planning, and provider scheduling. Also, the CMO position serves as a coach/mentor/trainer to staff providers, giving guidance in best practice, trouble shooting of medical services and operations issues in priority of urgency according to NEW Health policy and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) standards.
The candidate must have an unrestricted license as an M.D. in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and be Board Certified in family medicine, or internal medicine and have at least 5 years’ experience practicing medicine. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability are essential. The CMO must maintain a practice with a minimum of 0.5 FTE direct patient care sessions per week. The candidate should have some medical leadership and management experience. Experience in a community health center, FQHC or public health setting would be optimal. The candidate must be a participating physician under the Medicare and Medicaid programs as well as in appropriate health plans
